I was surprised by the results of my Tech Quiz. I was a little nervous to begin this course, but at the same time I want to keep up with current technology my students are or will be using. I look forward to incorporating the technology with the science lessons I teach. I found that watching the tutorials will help me navigate and troubleshoot my way through this course. Something,I learned in Thing 1, is how to take a screen shot and copy it to my Weebly site. In the process I learned how to add a caption that hovers over the screenshot.

Last year, a good friend and colleague and I met at the coffee shop. She showed me how to develop a Weebly site. With her expertise, I was able to develop the face of the classroom. So as I progress through the 21 things it will be easy to add the my weebly. (Finally, one thing I already knew about!!!) Thanks Sally!!!

Thing 3
Gliffy
WORD IT
I use wordle in the classroom in a variety of ways. It is useful for starting a new unit, I have students search for highlighted or bold vocabulary words. Students then decide on a shape and make a quick pic to share with the class. Another way I would use mind mapping is at the end of the unit. Gliffy will make it easy to create a flow chart and help students make connections to the topic of the unit. I put up Wordle on the screen as an exit pass, before they leave they add a new vocabulary learned from the days lesson. It makes for a quick exit pass!! I look forward to using infographic, students can display posters about the topics learned in class.

QR Code
I have a few ideas I want to try with QR Code. I want to make up a web search on the periodic table or maybe have the students use the code to take a test. I was surprised how easy it was to make one. I have since suggested we down load the app to use on Chrome books and I-pads.
Thing 4
Drop Box
I have used drop box in the past. I found it very useful at the end of the year. Storing all my lessons, prevented them from being deleted, while computers were updated. I am a little apprehensive about storing data in the cloud. I guess I am old school. I am always worried about data or information being corrupt with out my knowledge. There are some positives to storing data in the cloud. My computer will not become overwhelmed with storage issues. I do like the idea of the universal access to my data from any computer location. This last year our school encourages the use of Google. I am learning the ins and outs. So far I like it.
Cloud initiation opened the door for many uses in my classroom. I already use Google drive to create documents and am now versed on how to share. I look forward to students responding to documents. I could use doodle for upcoming assignments or reminders. Students struggle with organizing so introducing a program such as a Doodle calendar might help. I like how Symbaloo acts as a storage for my websites. I can see my self organizing favorite sites.
